WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan– FDNY Fire Officials are looking into what caused a basement fire in a restaurant which is attached to an apartment building at the ground level. FDNY got the call around 5 PM and companies responded and were on scene within minutes. When the members arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the ground level. No injuries were reported at the scene as Firefighters worked to find the area where the fire was burning, at one point Firefighters had to force open doors and floorboards in nearby businesses to be certain fire did not spread. The fire was brought under control within an hour later of the original calls.
